The William Smith College soccer team held at No. 6 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll ahead of a pair of Liberty League games this weekend, Oct. 15-16. The Herons welcome Union and Rensselaer to Cozzens Field on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

William Smith improved to 10-1-1 overall and 5-0-0 in Liberty League play with 3-0 wins over Nazareth and Clarkson last week.
Sheila McQuillen and
Marissa Mastracco earned a spot on the league's weekly honor roll following their performances against the Golden Flyers and Golden Knights. McQuillen led the Herons with five points on two goals and an assist. She scored twice in the second half in a 3-0 victory over Clarkson and set up the game-winning goal against Nazareth. Mastracco led William Smith's defense to a pair of shutouts. It was the Herons' ninth and 10th shutouts of the year.

William Smith enters the week ranked in the top 25 in the nation in several categories. The Herons are second in the nation in shutout percentage (0.833) and shutouts (10), fourth in total assists (40), sixth in assists per game (3.33), ninth in total points (128) and points per game (10.67), 12th in scoring offense (3.67 goals per game), 13th in total goals (44), 23rd in winning percentage (.875) and 25th in goals against average (0.41).

Individually, the Herons are led by
Julia Keogh's 25 points and 10 goals. She is 25th in the nation in total points. McQuillen is second on the team with six goals and 19 points. Her seven assists are a team best and are eighth in the nation.
Seneca Blakely-Armitage (6g) and
Amanda Adams (4g, 3a) also have 10-plus points.

Amanda Kesler has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 7-1-0 with a 0.49 goals against average and a .846 save percentage. She has five shutouts.

On Friday, Oct. 15, William Smith will host the Dutchwomen. Union is 5-5-2 with a 2-1-1 mark in Liberty League play. The Dutchwomen are unbeaten in their last three contests and are coming off a 2-2 tie with the Engineers. Union is led by Erin O'Shea's four goals, four assists and 12 points. Emma Schleimer also has four goals. Abby Mitty has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 5-5-2 with a 1.53 GAA and a .762 save percentage.

Friday's game will be the 36th all-time meeting between the Herons and Dutchwomen. William Smith leads the series 24-9-2, including a 15-2-2 mark in Geneva. The Herons are riding a 16-game win streak in the series.

RPI enter the weekend with a 4-2-4 overall record and a 1-1-2 mark in Liberty League play. The Engineers will be at RIT on Friday afternoon. Whitney Wisnom leads the team with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Erin Barns is right behind her with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Sierra Skelding has played a majority of the minutes in goal for RPI. She is 3-2-3 with a 1.20 GAA and an .824 save percentage.

Saturday's contest will be the 34th meeting between the Herons and the Engineers. William Smith holds a 30-2-0 advantage in the series, including an 18-0-0 mark in Geneva.
