Hobart soccer welcomes back alumni this weekend

The Hobart College soccer team will host Vassar on Saturday, Oct. 23 in a Liberty League contest on Cozzens Field. This weekend will serve as the Statesmen's annual alumni weekend.
 
Former Statesmen will play their alumni game on St. Clair Field on Saturday at 10 a.m. Following the alumni game, Hobart will take on Vassar at 3 p.m. Postgame, there will be a reception at Eddie O'Brien's.
 
In addition, the game will be the "Thrilla on the Hilla" game. The first 400 people who pass through the gate will get a free Hobart soccer t-shirt.
 
Hobart brings a 7-6-1 overall record and a 3-3-1 mark in Liberty League play into Saturday's game. The Statesmen are tied for fifth in the league standings. Hobart is 3-0-1 on Cozzens Field this season and is coming off a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory over Buffalo State on Wednesday. Connor Koschineg scored the game-winning goal with 3:24 left on the clock. Sam Lescher scored twice in the first half in the victory. 
 
Individually, Hobart is led by Matias Valenzuela Matic and Amad Miller, who have 10 points each. Valenzuela Matic has three goals and a team-best four assists. Miller has a team-high five goals, including two game winners. Frederick Madsen is right behind them with seven points on two goals and three assists.
 
Guillermo Castaneda Chang has played a majority of the minutes recently in goal. He is 5-3-1 with a 1.37 goals against average and a .711 save percentage. He has three shutouts. 
 
Vassar is 10-2-1 overall with a 4-1-1 mark in conference play. They are unbeaten in their last five games with four shutouts. The Brewers are allowing a league-low 0.61 goals per game. Ryan Lane and Duncan Keker share the team lead with eight points on three goals and two assists. Quinn Tunnell and Teddy Borgos also have three goals. Eric Wnorowski has played every minute in net for Vassar. He has a 0.61 GAA and an .843 save percentage.
 
Saturday's game will be the 23rd meeting between Hobart and Vassar. The Statesmen lead the all-time series 15-5-2, including a 10-0-2 mark in Geneva. Hobart has won the last two meetings.
