POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—The 25th-ranked Hobart College squash team cruised to a 9-0 win over Vassar at the Vassar squash courts this morning. With the win, the Statesmen are now 2-3 on the season.
Hobart notched 3-0 wins in all nine spots of the lineup. In the No. 1 spot,
Mo Abdelhafez defeated Rithik Jalali, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6. It was Abdelhafez's second win of the season.
Omar Kiwan rolled to an 11-4, 11-4, 11-3 victory over Henry Mitchell in the No. 2 spot.
Hussein Labib improved to 2-2 on the season with an 11-7, 11-7, 11- 2 win at No. 3.
Giacomo Dalle Molle defeated Max Swan, 15-13, 11-6, 11-4, to improve to 2-3 on the season. It was his first win in the No. 4 spot.
Sayf Elhawary bested Alex Wisneski, 11-7, 11-1, 11-6, at No. 5.
Roberto Vega continued Hobart's run besting Jarid Haslinger, 11-6, 11-3, 11-5.
Cameron Temoyan,
James Mazzarelli and
Quran Davis rounded out the sweep. In the No. 7 spot, Temoyan defeated Azaan Malik, 11-5, 11-7, 11-1. Mazzarelli rolled to an 11-9, 11-1, 11-7 win at No. 8, knocking off Reese Collins. Davis defeated John Finkelstein, 11-6, 11-7, 11-5, in the No. 9 spot of the ladder.
Hobart will be back in action next weekend, Nov. 19-20, when it heads to Clinton, New York, to take on three NESCAC schools. The Statesmen will face Connecticut College on Friday at 7 p.m., before competing against Tufts at 11 a.m. and Hamilton at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
