Jarvis posts double-double at Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—William Smith forward Brooke Jarvis led all players in scoring and rebounding, posting her first collegiate double-double, but the University of Rochester used its depth to earn an 82-55 win in the Louis Alexander Palestra.

Jarvis' big night included a career-high 24 points on 6-of-18 shooting and a 12-of-16 effort at the free throw line. She was two free throws made and three free throw attempts shy of the Herons' single game records.

Jarvis led the Herons to a 54-50 edge on the glass with a career-high 15 rebounds. Olivia Parisi also produced a double-double for William Smith (1-2), finishing the game with 12 points and 12 boards. Lauren DeVaney grabbed 11 rebounds.

Rochester (5-2) shot 59.1% in the first quarter and never looked back. Thirteen Yellowjackets scored at least two points led by Julianna Okoniewski's 15 points and nine rebounds.

After trading baskets to start the game, Rochester got hot from 3-point range and broke the game open outscoring William Smith 21-6. Six different Yellowjackets scored during the four-minute run. Hannah Lindemuth started the rush with a triple. About two minutes later, Callie McCulley dialed long distance and Haley Dumiak ended the run with a three. In all, Rochester made six, first-quarter 3-pointers.

Rochester started the second quarter with a 16-4 run, stretching its lead to 48-20 with two minutes remaining in the half. Five different Yellowjackets contributed to the surge, led by five points from Alexis Sestric.

Jarvis led all players with 10 points and nine rebounds at the half.

The Herons got within 23 three times early in the third quarter, but the Yellowjackets let them get no closer in the second half.
