GENEVA, N.Y. — The William Smith College soccer team scored eight second half goals as it defeated Clarkson 11-0 in an exhibition match on Cozzens Field this afternoon. Seven different Herons recorded a goal and 10 different players tallied a point in the win.

Ava Ruppersberger led William Smith with four assists. Seniors
Amanda Adams and
Julia Keogh each had hat tricks in the victory. Junior
Molly Clements tacked on a pair of assists. Junior
Justine Pearson and first-year
Kirsten Nelson each played 40 minutes in goal, but thanks to a strong effort in the midfield, they did not face a shot.
Hannah Wendling played all 80 minutes in goal and made seven saves for Clarkson.
Adams opened the scoring in the seventh minute with her first goal of the game. She slipped a right footed shot into the lower right corner of the cage. Ruppersberger was credited with an assist on the goal. Nine minutes later Keogh doubled William Smith's lead. She collected a rebound fired a shot past Wendling. Ruppersberger notched her second assist of the game on the goal. Keogh made it 3-0 with her second strike of the game. Sophomore
Katrine Berg was credited with an assist on tally.
The Herons wasted little time extending the lead, scoring five goals in the first eight minutes of the second half. Adams opened the run, firing a shot into the back of the net a mere 88 seconds into the frame. Senior
Merilyn Hinrichs was credited with an assist on Adams' second goal of the game. Keogh completed her hat trick one minute later. She collected a leading pass from Ruppersberger and slipped a shot past Wendling. Twenty-seven seconds later, Hinrichs looped a shot from outside 18-yard box over the goalie's head and across the goal line. Adams completed her hat trick off a feed from sophomore
Seneca Blakely-Armitage in the 46th minute. Blakely-Armitage added a goal of her own in the 48th minute. Ruppersberger notched her fourth assist of the day on the tally. First-year
Emma Faso's goal in the 55th minute gave William Smith a 9-0 lead. One minute later, junior
Ava Belcuore beat the Clarkson goalie with a low shot. Clements was credited with an assists on Fasso and Belcuore's goals. First-year
Emily Johnson rounded out the scoring.
William Smith bottled the Golden Knights up in the midfield for the majority of the game, limiting the Golden Knights touches in the offensive half of the field. William Smith finished the game with a 27-0 edge in shots and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
With it being an exhibition match, the teams tacked on an addition 15 minutes at the end of regulation. The majority of the extra session was limited to the midfield.
