GENEVA, N.Y. — William Smith College sophomore midfielder
Maddie Montgomery led the No. 17 Heron lacrosse team with eight points on six goals and two assists in a 15-11 victory over Clarkson in a Liberty League contest on Boswell Field this afternoon. With the win, William Smith is now 3-3 overall this season with a 3-2 record in Liberty League play.
Montgomery's career-high eight points and six goals came six days after she notched a then career-high four goals and four points against Ithaca. She is the first Heron to score six goals in a game since senior
Ellie Burns had six tallies in a 17-4 win over St. Lawrence on April 6, 2019. Her eight points are the most in a game by a William Smith player since Melissa Moore '18 had seven goals and an assist on May 12, 2018.
In addition, four different Herons finished the game with two points. Seniors
Ellie Burns,
Anna Murphy and
Delia Lawver had two goals each and junior
Payton McMahon had a goal and an assist. Senior

A minute later, Barnum completed her hat trick. Her ninth goal of the season was assisted by Sydney Roderick.
William Smith rattled off the game's next three goals to extend the lead to five goals. Murphy scored the first two goals of the run before Montgomery added a fifth goal. The Golden Knights did not go quietly, however, as they went on a three goal run of their own. Stone scored twice and Sydney Roderick pocketed the third to make it a two goal game with 7:16 remaining in regulation. Montgomery sealed the victory with her team-leading 17th goal of the season. She then set up senior
