GENEVA, N.Y.—The seventh-ranked William Smith College soccer team will host Liberty League rival Skidmore on Saturday, Sept. 25, during HWS Homecoming and Family Weekend. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on Cozzens Field.
Admission to William Smith soccer games is free. Fans are asked to monitor their health and stay home if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Properly fitting masks that cover the mouth and nose are required in indoor spaces on campus (including restrooms) and in crowded outdoor settings.
William Smith has won four straight games and is now 5-1-1 on the season. The Herons opened Liberty League play on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over RIT. William Smith is led by
Julia Keogh's six goals and 16 points.
Sheila McQuillen has a team-best five assists.
Amanda Adams and
Seneca Blakely-Armitage are tied for second on the team with four goals each. In total, 15 different Herons have recorded a point.
Amanda Kesler and
Kirsten Nelson have split time in goal this season. Kesler is 2-1-0 with a 1.08 goals against average and a .636 save percentage. Nelson is 3-0-1 with a 0.28 GAA and an .889 save percentage.
The Thoroughbreds are 3-2-0 overall this season. Saturday will be Skidmore's Liberty League opener. The Thoroughbreds have spread their offense around through the first five games of the season. They have five players with two goals and four points each. Carly Craft leads the team with two assists. Ava Keller has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She has a 0.97 GAA and an .818 save percentage.
Saturday's match will be the 36th all-time meeting between William Smith and Skidmore. The Herons hold a 29-1-5 edge in the series, including a 18-0-2 record in Geneva.
