William Smith got goals from five different players.
Annabel Ziskin led the way with a goal and an assist. The Herons outshot Salem State 47-15.
Alisa Canney took advantage of a Vikings' turnover to give William Smith the lead just over two minutes into the game. A defender tried a cross-ice clearing pass from the right faceoff dot, but Canney jumped in front of the puck before it cleared the zone and ripped a wrist shot into the bottom right corner of the cage. The goal stood alone at the first intermission.
The Herons added to their lead just over six minutes into the second period. William Smith broke into the zone with a 4-on-1 rush,
Emily Martino created the opportunity with a pass through the neutral zone to Ziskin, who skated up the left side and slid a cross-ice pass to
Elizabeth MacMurray. She buried her shot from six feet off the right post for her first collegiate goal.
William Smith made it 3-0 with under seven minutes left in the period.
Lauren Legler took a shot from the left slot that Salem State goalie Kaia Hollingsworth stopped, but the puck trickled behind her and Faso was there to poke it home for her second goal of the season.
Two minutes later,
Taylor Ettore sniped the top left corner with a shot from straight out in front.
Ava Cornforth was credited with an assist on Ettore's third goal of the season, which sent William Smith into the second intermission leading 4-0.
Aalto was at the top of her game in the second period, making nine saves.
Five minutes into the final frame, Ziskin joined the scoring parade with a goal that was nearly identical to Canney's first period tally.
Hollingsworth was under pressure all night, making 42 saves.
