GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College swimming and diving team made a victorious return to competition this afternoon. Racing for the first time in 2022, the Herons defeated Cazenovia College 129-73 in Bristol Pool this afternoon.
Katie Mullin,
Clare Burke and
Tessa Yohan all won three individual events for the Herons (4-1). Mullin and Yohan also contributed to the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Mullin was victorious in the 1,000 free with a time of 12:04.5, the 50 free in 27.75 and the 100 backstroke in 1:07.15. Mullin, Yohan,
Kylie Rowland and
Leanna Smith closed out the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1:55.31. Mullin's lead-off leg (27.61) was faster than her winning time in the 50 free.
Burke was triumphant in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.85, the 100 free in 1:03.23 and the 50 fly in 31.88.
Yohan won the 200 free in 2:09.99, the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.93 and took the 200 individual medley in 2:27.85.
Rowland won the 50 breaststroke in 36.11 while Smith won the 500 free in 6:12.53.
Cazenovia won two events, the 50 backstroke (Maddie Sauro, 32.61) and 1-meter diving (Christa Bailey, 98.1).
The Herons will be back in Bristol Pool when they take on RIT at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29.
