Healy named Rookie of the Week

Statesmen begin busy February at Skidmore

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year guard Pat Healy was named the Liberty League Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week by the conference office today. He was Hobart's leading scorer in a 2-1 week, producing a pair of season-high points totals.
 
Healy averaged 22.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals as the Statesmen beat RIT twice and dropped an eight-point decision to Ithaca. At RIT on Tuesday, he exploded for his first collegiate double-digit game, scoring a game-high 25 points on 7-of-12 shooting with five 3-pointers and a 6-for-6 effort at the line. He also logged five rebounds and two steals against the Tigers. Against the Bombers on Friday, Healy contributed 11 points, a season-high matching six rebounds and two assists. He closed out the week with another spectacular performance against RIT. On Saturday, the Tiger tamer was 13-of-17 shooting, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, for a game-high 31 points. The 13 FGM are tied for ninth on Hobart's single game list. He grabbed four rebounds and shared game-high honors with three assists. For the week, Healy shot .543 from the floor (25-46), .579 from 3-point range (11-19), and .857 at the free throw line (6-7).

Healy has played in 14 games this season, making his first three starts last week. He's averaging 9.0 point, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He's shooting .521 from the floor, .448 from beyond the arc and .684 at the free throw line.


 
Following Saturday's 99-80 win over RIT, Hobart is 6-9 overall. The Statesmen are 3-5 in conference play, tied for sixth place with Union (7-9, 4-6) and RIT (6-10, 4-6). The top six teams make the Liberty League Championship Tournament.
 
The final three weeks of Hobart's regular season is loaded with games due to postponements caused by COVID, including seven games in the next 12 days.
 
The Statesmen will begin February at Skidmore (9-6, 5-4) Tuesday night, tipping off at 7:30 p.m. The Thoroughbreds topped Hobart 75-64 in Geneva on Jan. 18.
 
Skidmore College has announced that home athletic events will be open to fully vaccinated/boosted spectators. All spectators are required to wear a KN95 mask and show proof of vaccination and booster in order to be admitted.

The latest change to Hobart's schedule is the rescheduling of the Statesmen's trip to the North Country. Originally slated for Jan. 21-22, Hobart will visit St. Lawrence Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. and Clarkson the following afternoon at 1 p.m.
