GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College cross country team took first place in the Cross Country Only Championship at Seneca Lake State Park today. Behind the 1-2 finish of
Ainsley Woods and
Abby Palin, the Herons finished 56 points clear of runner-up Morrisville State in the team standings.
A strong southerly gusts stirred up Seneca Lake and battered runners along the 6-kilometer course, but Woods sliced through the wind, crossing the finish line in 24:38.0. Palin was the runner-up, stopping the clock at 25:07.7. She finished more than 34 seconds ahead of the third place runner.
Rebecca Barr and
Abigail Cole also finished in the top 10.
