Volleyball to host Ithaca Tuesday

The William Smith College volleyball team will be back in action Tuesday when it hosts Ithaca in a Liberty League showdown. First serve is set for 6 p.m. in Bristol Gymnasium.
 
Fans who cannot make it to Bristol Gymnasium can follow the action with HWS-All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
ABOUT THE HERONS:
  • William Smith enters the week with a 12-4 overall and 3-1 Liberty League record after collecting two non-conference victories on Saturday, against Utica and Medaille.
  • Sophomore Elaina Wamhoff and first-year Jaylynn McCarthy were named to the Liberty League honor roll after last week's performances.
  • First-year Malya Sayre leads the Herons with 182 kills on the season, averaging 3.19 kills per set, followed by fellow first-year Hope Von Dohlen with 148 kills, averaging 2.64 kills per set.
  • Wamhoff sits at 532 assists on the year, averaging 9.33 assists per set. She leads the Liberty League and is 34th in the nation in assists per set. Wamhoff also brings a strong serving presence to the game as she has recorded 27 aces on the season.
  • Sayre leads the team in digs with 128, followed by sophomore Ariana Angus with 126.
  • William Smith shows a strong presence at the net, recording 94 blocks. Leading the way for the Herons is senior Lauren DeVaney (41), first-year Jaylynn McCarthy (41), and sophomore Elizaveta Telepova (29).
ABOUT THE BOMBERS:
  • Ithaca brings a 17-4 overall and a 3-0 Liberty League record into Tuesday's match, after going 1-1 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on Saturday. The Bombers fell to Mary Washington 3-1, and defeated Salisbury 3-2.
  • Alexandra Montgomery leads the Bombers with 183 kills, averaging 2.26 kills per set.
  • Maddie Cox leads the team in assists with 548, recording 8.43 assists per set.
