Herons to host Skidmore in Liberty League showdown on Saturday

The William Smith College field hockey team will take on Skidmore in a Liberty League matchup at McCooey Field on Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
 
Fans who cannot make it to McCooey Field can follow the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
ABOUT THE HERONS:
  • William Smith is 9-2 on the season with a 1-1 record in conference play. The Herons are looking to improve their win streak to four after defeating Nazareth 6-0 on Wednesday.
  • Graduate student Emily Leonard leads the team with 25 points on 12 goals and one assist. Junior Sofia Pattillo follows closely behind with 19 points on eight goals and three assists.
  • Junior Kristen McCormick is 6-1 in goal on the season. McCormick sits at a 0.85 GAA, and a 0.696 save percentage with four shutouts on the season.
 
ABOUT THE THOROUGHBREDS:
  • The Thoroughbreds sit at 7-4 overall, with a 1-1 record in Liberty League play.
  • Skidmore is coming off a 6-0 defeat to No. 11 Williams on Thursday night.
  • Carrie Hughes is leading the Thoroughbreds with 34 points on 16 goals and two assists.
  • Victoria Bodnar leads Skidmore in minutes played in goal, posting a 7-4 record. She has recorded a 2.15 GAA, and a 0.726 save percentage with three shutouts on the year.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Saturday's matchup will be the 37th meeting between the Herons and Thoroughbreds. The series is tied at 18-18, with the Herons having a 12-4 edge when playing on home turf.
  • At their last meeting, William Smith defeated Skidmore 3-2 on Oct. 17, 2021, at Wagner Park in Saratoga Springs.
