Hobart hosts #14 Colby, Salve Regina

12/30/2022 12:49:00 PM

The top-ranked Hobart College hockey team will wrap up 2022 when it hosts the Hockey Helpers Shootout at The Cooler Dec. 30-31. The Statesmen will split hosting duties with Elmira College.

Hobart will host 14th-ranked Colby tonight Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. and Salve Regina Saturday Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. The Soaring Eagles will host the Seahawks Friday and the Mules Saturday.

Each of this weekend's teams are participating in the Hockey Helpers initiative, raising funds for local causes. At The Cooler, the Statesmen will sell sweatshirts and raise funds for The Help Sami Kick Cancer Foundation and The Lodge at Dreaming Tree Ranch.

The Hobart Hockey Helpers program was established by Ryan Adler '09 in 2007 to give the hockey team the opportunity to volunteer and give back through service projects in the community. The initiative has expanded to other hockey programs across the country. In previous seasons, Hobart partnered with Donate Life, the Wounded Warrior Project and Project Eye-to-Eye. Last year Hobart and Potsdam raised funds to help the Salmon River Ice Hockey Association.

The Help Sami Kick Cancer Foundation aims to financially assist families that are faced with a pediatric cancer diagnosis. The Lodge was built in Potsdam, New York, to enrich the lives of a family who has received the dreaded news of a pediatric cancer diagnosis. It is a place where families can reconnect with each other through nature and enjoy all the beautiful nature-inspired blessings that living in the foothills of the Adirondacks provides.

Fans who can't make the trip to The Cooler can follow all the action with HWS All-Access and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva). Fans can donate to the Help Sami Kick Cancer Foundation here.
