#1 Hobart welcomes Trinity for non-conference clash

The top-ranked Hobart College hockey team will continue its five-game homestand Saturday, Dec. 10, when it takes on Trinity College in a non-conference contest at The Cooler. Faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
The Statesmen (10-0-0, 6-0-0) continued their hot start to the season with wins over Castleton and No. 15 Skidmore last weekend. On Friday, Hobart defeated the Spartans 4-1. The Statesmen shut out the Thoroughbreds 4-0. With 10 straight wins, Hobart has matched the program's longest winning streak.
 
Trinity is 4-3-0 overall on the season. The Bantams are coming off a 4-3 overtime victory over Babson on Tuesday evening.
 
Fans can't make the trip to The Cooler this weekend can follow all the action with HWS All-Access and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Jonah Alexanders leads Hobart with 15 points on six goals and nine assists. He was named to the NEHC Weekly honor roll following his performance against Castleton and Skidmore.
  • Luke Aquaro is right behind him with 14 points on a team-leading nine goals and five assists.
  • Their linemate Shane Shell (2-9-11) joins them in the double digits.
  • In total, 22 Statesmen have recorded a point this season.
  • Damon Beaver and Mavrick Goyer have split time in goal, both recording five wins. Beaver has a 0.60 GAA and a .975 save percentage. Goyer has a 1.40 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE BANTAMS
  • Trinity is led by Jax Murray, who has nine points on four goals and five assists.
  • Gerrard Maretta is right behind him with seven points on three goals and four assists.
  • J.P. Mella has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 2-3-0 with a 2.99 GAA and an .887 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's game will be the 12th all-time meeting between Hobart and Trinity.
  • The series is deadlocked at 4-4-3, including a 1-1-1 record here in Geneva.
  • The Bantams earned a 4-3 win in Hartford, Conn., last December. Luke Aquaro had agoal and an assist for the Statesmen.
