Herons welcome Ephs for weekend set

The William Smith College hockey team begins a six-game homestand this weekend, Dec. 10-11, when it welcomes Williams College to The Cooler for a pair of non-conference contests. Saturday's game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday's game will start at 3:30 p.m.
 
The Herons are 6-5-1 overall this season. William Smith is coming off a 4-0 victory over Plymouth State last Saturday. Four different players scored a goal and Sydney Foster finished the contest with a game-high two points on a goal and an assist. Erin Murray stopped all 25 shots she faced as she earned her first career shutout.
 
The Ephs are 3-4-0 this season and are coming off a 4-1 victory over 11th-ranked Nazareth on Tuesday. Maddie Tix had a game-high two points in the victory for Williams.
 
Fans can't make the trip to The Cooler this weekend can follow all the action with HWS All-Access and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
ABOUT THE HERONS:
  • William Smith is fourth in the New England Hockey Conference standings with 13 points.
  • Kayla Ketchabaw leads the team with eight points on five goals and three assists. Mia LaPlante is right behind her with seven points on three goals and four assists.
  • Emily Cataldo has a team-best six assists.
  • Murray and Annie Hauser have split the minutes in goal. Murray is 4-2-1 with a 2.01 GAA and a .942 save percentage. Hauser is 2-3-1 with a 2.75 GAA and a .902 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE EPHS
  • Williams is led offensively by Ellia Chiang's six points on two goals and four assists. Delaney Szlezyngier is right behind her with five points on a goal and four assists.
  • Five different players are tied for the team lead with two goals each.
  • Sofia Da Silva and Amanda Lackmann have split time in goal. Da Silva is 2-1-0 with a 1.71 GAA and a .943 save percentage. Lackmann is 0-3-0 with a 3.50 GAA and a .894 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • This weekend's series will be just the third and fourth meetings between the two teams and the first in Geneva.
  • The Ephs won both of last year's contests in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
