HAMILTON, N.Y.—Division I Colgate University defeated Hobart College 7-0 in a men's tennis match played in Sanford Fieldhouse this afternoon. The Raiders improved to 3-3 while the Statesmen slipped to 0-1.
Colgate opened the match by securing the doubles point, sweeping all three matches. Hobart's
Jett Wright and
Troy Steiner put up a fight at No. 1 doubles, falling to Nick Potter and Rohan Gupta 6-4.
The Raiders won all six singles matches as well, prevailing in straight sets in five of those matches. At No. 4, Statesman
Jacob Linares won the first set 6-3. His opponent, Benito Vlassis, rebounded to win the second set 6-4 and eked out a 7-6 (12-10) win in the third.
Hobart will be back in action at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, when the Statesmen host Niagara (5-2) in Bristol Field House.
