GENEVA, N.Y.—Junior attack Maddie Montgomery scored five goals, becoming the 25th player in program history to record 100 goals, as the nationally-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team recorded its 500th victory in program history. The Herons cruised to a 15-2 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic on Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium.

Montgomery opened the scoring at the 13:35 mark of the first quarter. Her first goal of the game was an unassisted tally. After some unsettled play, William Smith took a 2-0 lead with just over two minutes left in the frame. McMahon fired home a shot from directly in front of the cage. Her 23rd goal of the game was assisted by Allie McGinty. Just under a minute later, Montgomery pocketed her 48th goal of the season. The unassisted strike gave William Smith a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Herons extended their lead to five goals just over six minutes into the second quarter when Murphy and Murray scored 12 seconds apart. Murphy's 38th goal of the year was assisted by McMahon and Murray's 27th goal of the year was assisted by Montgomery. Murray added her second goal of the game 30 seconds later. McMahon was credited with an assist on the goal. Off a free position attempt, McMahon found Murray on the opposite side of the eight-meter fan, and the first-year fired home the shot into the back of the net. With 7:05 left in the first half, McGinty rolled to the front of the cage and buried her 27th goal of the season. Shay snapped the William Smith run with her 37th goal of the year. She beat two defenders and slipped a shot past Smeader.
