POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—William Smith College senior
Maggie Bonomo won her final collegiate match, but it was not enough as the Herons were defeated by Vassar 8-1 in a Liberty League match at the Josselyn Courts this afternoon. William Smith concludes its season with a 4-13 overall record and a 1-7 mark in conference play. The Brewers are 15-2 overall this season with an 8-0 mark in the Liberty League.
Playing in the No. 1 spot, Bonomo defeated Vassar's Tatum Balock, 6-3, 3-6, 10-4. It was Bonomo's team-leading 15th win of the season. She went 15-9 during her senior campaign, posting a 10-6 mark in the No. 1 spot. Bonomo concludes her William Smith career with a 49-21 mark in singles, including a 17-10 mark in the No. 1 spot. She was 15-4 in the No. 2 spot.
The Brewers took control of the match, winning all three doubles matches. Bonomo and
Audrey Camacho were edged 8-3 in the No. 1 spot. Vassar also won 8-3 at No. 2 and were 8-0 winners in the No. 3 spot.
The Brewers won all three of their singles points in straight sets.
