Hobart hosts Ithaca Wednesday

The Hobart College soccer team will be back in action tomorrow, Sept. 28, when it hosts Ithaca in a key Liberty League contest on Cozzens Field. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
 
Hobart is looking to snap a two-game winless streak. The Statesmen earned their first point in conference play with a 1-1 draw with Skidmore on Saturday. Hobart and Ithaca are currently tied for seventh in the Liberty League standings with one point each.
 
Fans who cannot make it to Geneva can follow all the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7).
 
ABOUT THE STATESMEN:
  • Hobart is 3-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 mark in league play. The Statesmen were 0-1-1 last week, dropping the conference opener to RIT on Tuesday and drawing with the Thoroughbreds on Saturday.
  • Quinn Phillips leads the team with six points on two goals and two assists. Nolan Fierro and Brian Sheehan also have two goals.
  • Christian Burkhart has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 2-1-0 with a 0.50 GAA and an .800 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE BOMBERS:
  • Ithaca is 1-4-3 overall and is 0-0-1 in conference play. The Bombers played to a scoreless draw with then No. 24 Clarkson on Saturday.
  • Ithaca has three players tied for the team lead with one goal.
  • Ian Whitfield has played the majority of minutes in goal. He is 0-4-3 with a 1.44 GAA and a .667 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Wednesday's game will be the 66th meeting between the Statesmen and the Bombers. Ithaca is 41-21-3 all-time against Hobart, including a 20-11-2 mark in Geneva.
  • Ithaca has won the last two meetings between the teams by the score of 1-0.
  • Hobart's last victory in the series came in 2018, a 3-0 win on Cozzens Field.
