#5 William Smith hosts Bard, Penn State-Behrend

The fifth-ranked William Smith College soccer team will play a pair of games on Cozzens Field this weekend, Oct. 1-2, as a part of the festivities for Hobart and William Smith Colleges' Homecoming and Family Weekend. On Saturday, the Herons will take on Bard at 3 p.m. in a Liberty League contest. The next day William Smith welcomes Penn State-Behrend for a non-conference clash.
 
The Herons enter the weekend with a 5-1-2 overall record and 2-0-1 mark in conference play. William Smith is first in the Liberty League with seven points. The Herons are coming off a 3-0 victory over Ithaca on Wednesday.
 
Fans who cannot make the trip to Geneva this weekend can follow all the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will also be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
ABOUT THE HERONS:
  • Ava Ruppersberger leads the Herons with 11 points on four goals and three assists.
  • Emma Faso is right behind her with four goals and nine total points.
  • Kirsten Nelson and Amanda Kesler have split time in goal this year. Nelson is 4-0-0 with a 0.49 GAA and an .889 save percentage. Kesler is 1-1-2 with a 0.51 GAA and an .818 save percentage.
  • William Smith leads the Liberty League in scoring offense (2.50 gpg), points per game (6.38 ppg), and corner kicks per game (6.38).
 
ABOUT THE RAPTORS
  • Bard brings a 2-6-1 overall record and 0-3-0 mark in conference play into Saturday's game.
  • Emma Kuntz leads the team with two goals and five points.
  • Seymore Rosenberg has played a majority of the minutes in goal for the Raptors. She is 2-6-1 with a 2.22 GAA and a .727 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Saturday's match will be the 10th meeting between William Smith and Bard. The Herons have won all nine previous meetings and are 4-0-0 in Geneva.
  • William Smith has only allowed one goal in the nine meetings against the Raptors.
 
 
ABOUT THE LIONS:
  • Penn State-Behrend brings a record of 1-7-1 into the weekend. The Lions will be at Mt. Aloysius on Saturday.
  • Mia Zec leads the Lions with eight points and four goals. Lizzie Hoff and Trinity Prestash have three assists each.
  • Morgan Harding has played the majority of the minutes in goal. She is 1-5-1 with a 2.71 GAA, and a .612 save percentage.
 
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Sunday's game will be just the second match between William Smith and Penn State-Behrend. The Herons prevailed in the first meeting, 3-0 in the 2012 NCAA tournament.
