GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year goalie
Damon Beaver stopped all 17 shots he faced as the top-ranked Statesmen defeated Elmira 7-0 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this evening. It was Beaver's Hobart record fifth shutout of the season.

Zach Tyson, who was playing in his 99th career game, had three points on two goals and an assist. Junior
Austin Mourar added a goal and two assists. Kyle Curtin made 28 saves in goal for Elmira (8-9-1, 5-5-1).
KEY STATS
- Hobart finished the game with a 35-17 advantage in shots on goal.
- Hobart was 1-for-2 on the power play and Elmira was 0-for-5 with the extra skater.
- Beaver's fifth shutout of the season was also Hobart's season record seventh of the year.
FIRST PERIOD
- The first period was tightly contested with both teams feeling each other out.
- The Soaring Eagles nearly opened at the 2:21 mark of the first period. Kerfalla Toure ripped a shot from the high slot off of the crossbar.
- Hobart took a 1-0 lead at the 12:58 mark of the first period. Brenden Howell one-timed a shot from the left post past Curtin for his third goal of the season. The power-play goal was set up by a cross-ice feed from Jonah Alexander. Mourar also notched an assist on the goal.
- Just over two minutes later, Jared Patterson gave the Statesmen a 2-0 lead. He snapped a shot from the slot into the back of the net. His first collegiate goal was assisted by Tristan Fasig and Ignat Belov.
SECOND PERIOD
- The Statesmen took a 3-0 lead at the 6:31 mark of the middle frame. Mourar chipped a shot from the right faceoff circle past Curtin for his third goal of the season. Wil Crane and Patterson were awarded assists on the goal.
THIRD PERIOD:
- Hobart erupted for four goals in the final 20 minutes, including three goals in three minutes early in the period.
- Fasig started the onslaught with his second goal of the season. He fired a shot from the slot over Curtin's glove. Shane Shell was awarded an assist on the goal.
- One minute later, Tyson notched his first goal of the game. After his initial shot was stopped, he poked the loose puck across the goal line. Tanner Daniels and Lonan Bulger were awarded assists on the strike.
- Matthew Iasenza put the game out of reach just before the seven-minute mark of the period. He wristed a shot into the upper left corner of the cage for his eighth goal of the season. Tyson and Mourar were awarded assists on the four-on-four goal.
- Tyson rounded out the scoring with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation. He broke into the offensive zone on a two-on-one with Daniels and wristed a shot past Curtin for his eighth goal of the season. Bulger picked up the secondary assist on the goal.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 20, when it wraps up the home-and-home series with Elmira. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.
