GENEVA, N.Y.— The William Smith College basketball fell to Clarkson 74-52 in Bristol Gymnasium this afternoon. The Herons fall to 5-10 overall with a 3-5 mark in conference play while the Golden Knights move to 6-7 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Lauren DeVaney posted 13 points and 12 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Three Herons posted double digit points in the loss, including junior
Brooke Jarvis with 12 points and sophomore
Maddie Patrick with 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Clarkson came out shooting strong from behind the arc. The Golden Knights shot for 75% from three to give Clarkson a 12-point lead heading into the second quarter.
- Patrick, Jarvis and DeVaney combined for 19 of the Herons 23 points in the first half but continuous strong shooting from the Golden Knights would extend their lead to 21 at the half.
- The Herons would start the second half on a 9-2 run, finding seven early points from DeVaney.
- William Smith turned up the defensive pressure in the third keeping Clarkson to just a 29.4% shooting percentage from the floor. The Herons would outscore the Golden Knights in the quarter to cut Clarkson's lead to 14 heading into the final ten minutes.
- The Herons looked to push the tempo in the final ten minutes, but the Golden Knights would hit four more three-pointers to extend their lead which ended the Herons conference victory streak.
