GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team used a tenacious defensive effort to knock off St. Lawrence University 64-47 in Bristol Gym this afternoon. The Statesmen limited the Saints to just 20 points in the first half on the way to their fourth straight win.
Hobart (10-7, 6-4) shot 45.8% from the floor while limited SLU to 32.7%, the lowest shooting percentage by a Statesmen opponent this season. Hobart also controlled the boards, outrebounding the Saints 39-22.

Jackson Meshanic led the Statesmen with game highs of 26 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Classmate

Aidan Rodgers each chipped in six points.
Senior Trent Adamson was the only St. Lawrence (9-6, 5-4) player to post double digits, finishing with 10 points. Senior Trey Syroka logged seven points and a team-high four steals.
COACH'S CORNER
FIRST HALF
- Hobart got off to a quick start, building a 9-1 early lead. Walker capped the run with a steal and breakaway dunk.
- St. Lawrence countered with a 13-4 run, taking their only lead of the game on senior Miles Davis' driving layup to make it 14-13.
- The Statesmen broke a 16-all tie by closing out the first half on a 15-4 run. Hobart took a 31-20 lead into the break.
SECOND HALF
- The Statesmen played some of their best defense of the season in the opening eight minutes of the second half, forcing the Saints to miss their first seven shots from the field. Hobart's 14-2 run to start the half ballooned the home team's advantage to a game-high 23 points.
- SLU managed to trim its deficit to 12 twice in the final seven minutes, but got no closer.
GAME NOTES
- St. Lawrence's 47 points are the fewest allowed by a Hobart team since Dec. 6, 2019, when the Statesmen defeated Skidmore 67-43.
- SLU's .327 FG% is the lowest by a Hobart opponent since Feb. 8, 2022, when the Saints shot .315 in a 64-49 loss to the Statesmen.

- Hobart will return to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, when they visit Ithaca College. The Bombers (11-5) currently sit atop the Liberty League standings with a 7-2 conference record.
