ITHACA, N.Y.— The William Smith College basketball team fell to No. 19 Ithaca 71-42 this evening in a Liberty League matchup in Ben Light Gymnasium. The Herons fall to 5-12 overall with a 3-7 mark in conference play, while the Bombers move to 15-2 overall and 10-0 in the conference.

Brooke Jarvis led the Herons with 12 points and six rebounds while junior
Fiona Horan chipped in eight points and a career-high 11 rebounds. The Herons went 75% from the free throw line this evening, with senior
Lauren DeVaney and sophomore
Maddie Patrick shooting 100% from the line.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bombers opened the game on a 4-0 run before first-year Mckenzie Mandyck would hit a three-pointer to end Ithaca's early streak.
- The Herons found four early points from Horan in the first quarter but would be unable to shut down the strong Bomber offense. Ithaca would lead 23-9 heading into the second quarter.
- The Herons went on a 4-0 run to start the second quarter thanks to points from Jarvis and Patrick.
- The Bombers shot 50% from the floor in the second quarter to extend their lead to 21 before sophomore Molly Walsh hit a buzzer beater to cut the Bombers lead to 19 heading into halftime.
- William Smith opened up the second half with early points from Jarvis and DeVaney but the Bombers would respond with an 11-0 run to extend their lead.
- Horan added four more points for the Herons to cut Ithaca's lead.
- William Smith outscored Ithaca in the final 10 minutes behind five points from Jarvis.
- The Bombers early lead was enough to secure their league-leading 10th win which would hand the Herons their third consecutive loss.
