Amber Pidlypchak led the William Smith College bowling team at the Garden State Classic hosted by Monmouth University over the weekend. She finished in the top 10 in scoring average out of 50 bowlers competing in West Long Branch, New Jersey, on Sunday.
Â
On Saturday, the Herons competed against St. Francis of Brooklyn, Monmouth, Bloomfield, Merrimack and Howard in Baker format matches. William Smith went 0-5, playing its closest match against the Bison, falling 746-636.
Â
On Sunday, each team played two traditional matches—the Herons lost to St. Francis and Molloy—at which point the eight teams were seeded for a three-round tournament. William Smith lost in the first round to the host Hawks and dropped their consolation bracket opener to Bryant. The Herons faced the Bulldogs again in the seventh place match, coming up short of the program's first victory.
Â
Pidlypchak rolled her best game against the Hawks, posting a 190 pinfall. She averaged 169.4 on Day 2, ranking 10th out of 50 bowlers.
Â
William Smith will travel to Greensburg, Pennsylvania, for an AMCC Round Robin.
