Hobart hosts Bard on Saturday

The Hobart College soccer team will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 21, when it welcomes Bard College for a Liberty League contest on Cozzens Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. 
 
The Statesmen are 7-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the Liberty League. Hobart is coming off a 1-0 win over Utica on Tuesday. Frederick Madsen scored the game-winning goal and Guillermo Castañeda Chang made seven saves in the shutout.
 
The Raptors are 5-5-2 overall and 0-5-2 in Liberty League play. Bard is looking to bounce back from a 5-0 loss to St. Lawrence last weekend.
 
Prior to the game, the Statesmen will host their annual YMCA soccer clinic in the Poole Family Sports Dome starting at 9 a.m.
 
Fans who can't make it to Geneva can follow all the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7).
 
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Sophomore Quinn Phillips leads the team with nine points on three goals and three assists.
  • Junior Frederick Madsen also has three goals.
  • Graduate students Nolan Fierro and Amad Miller, join Phillips with three assists each.
  • Castañeda Chang has posted five shutouts. He is 7-2-1 with a 0.72 GAA and a .851 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE RAPTORS
  • Sam Gerber leads the team with fourteen points on six goals and two assists. Zach Burmeister is behind him with eight points on three goals and two assists.
  • Gavin Hersey has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 5-5-2 with a 1.68 GAA and a .648 save percentage.
 
HISTORY
  • Saturday's game will be the 11th meeting between Hobart and Bard.
  • The Statesmen are 10-0-1 against the Raptors, including a 5-0-1 mark on Cozzens Field.
  • Last year in Annandale-On-Hudson, Sam Lescher and Amad Miller scored in the 2-1 victory for the Statesmen.
