The William Smith College volleyball team is set to host RIT Wednesday, Oct. 25, in its Liberty League regular season finale. First serve between the Herons and the Tigers is set for 6 p.m. in Bristol Gymnasium.

Wednesday's conference matchup will be William Smith's Breast Cancer Awareness match to honor survivors, fighters and families affected by the disease. The Herons ask fans to wear pink in support of the cause. "Momma's Got You" food truck will be available outside of Bristol Gymnasium from 5:30-7:30 and will be free for students, faculty, and staff with a valid HWS OneCard, courtesy of the Heron Society.

ABOUT THE HERONS:
- William Smith enters the week 12-8 overall and 5-2 in the Liberty League after crucial conference victories over Union and Bard last week.
- The Herons clinched a Liberty League Tournament berth for the second straight season after its sweep of the Raptors.
- William Smith is led by Liberty League Performer of the Week, sophomore Malya Sayre, who averages a league-leading 4.78 points per set (21st in the nation) and 4.03 kills per set (27th in the nation). She is third in the conference in aces per set with 0.59.
- First-year Maren Hunt was named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll after three strong performances last week. She posted a career-high six kills (.625) against nationally-ranked Ithaca on Tuesday, followed by a career-high 12 blocks in a five-set victory over the Garnet Chargers Friday.
- Junior setter Elaina Wamhoff has compiled 624 assists this season (8.32/s) which ranks second in the conference. She leads the team in aces, serving up 0.63 per set. She leads a Heron team that is nationally ranked in aces per set (40th, 2.81/s).
- First-year Maysie Malinaric has recorded a team-leading 242 digs over the course of 75 sets this season, averaging 3.23 per set.
- William Smith has combined for 104 blocks as a team and is led by first-year Lindsay Umlauf with 52.
ABOUT THE TIGERS:
- RIT enters the week 8-17 overall and 3-3 in the Liberty League after a weekend conference split. The Tigers fell to Vassar 3-1 before defeating Union 3-1 the following day.
- RIT is led by Macie Jolliffe who averages 2.33 kills per set and 2.95 points per set.
- Sydney Neff leads the Tigers with 680 assists on the season, averaging 7.91 assists per set.
- Hailey Blixt has recorded a team-leading 283 digs, averaging 3.29 per set.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
- In their first meeting in program history, the Herons defeated the Tigers 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20) on Oct. 12, 2022.
- Sayre led William Smith with 18 kills, while Wamhoff recorded a team-leading 38 assists.
- RIT is 2-6 on the road this season and enters an intense atmosphere in Bristol Gymnasium on Wednesday. The Herons are 7-3 at home this year and have not lost a home match since September.
