GENEVA, N.Y.—The 23rd-ranked Hobart College squash team was edged by 13th-ranked Western University 6-3 in its season opener at the Smith Squash Center this afternoon.

FOR THE HOSTS
- Hobart won the matches in the top three spots of the ladder, picking up 3-0 sweeps at No. 1 and No. 3.
- Hussein Labib defeated Mitchell Kahnert, 11-9, 11-5, 11-5, at No. 1. It was Labib's fifth career win in the top spot.
- Omar Kiwan knocked off Antonio Mendes, 11-6, 8-11, 11-9, 13-11 at No. 2.
- Dhirren Rajarathinam logged his first collegiate win, defeating Daniel Deverill, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7, at No. 3.
- Joseph Raskin Lantos had a tight match at No. 4 but was edged, 7-11, 7-11, 13-11, 11-9, 7-11.
FOR THE FOES
- In addition to their win at No. 4, Western notched three 3-0 sweeps and a pair of 3-1 victories.
- The Mustangs won in the bottom six pots of the lineup.

Hobart will hit the road for a pair of games next weekend, Nov. 18-19. The Statesmen will take on Tufts University on Saturday and Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Sunday.
