Herons finish 4th in Daemen Storm Fall Classic

LOCKPORT, N.Y.—The William Smith College bowling team finished in fourth place at the Daemen Storm Fall Classic at Brad Angelo Lanes this weekend. The Herons edged Roberts Wesleyan by four pins to finish fourth.
 
FOR THE RECORD
  • William Smith went 7-3 on the weekend to improve to 18-10 on the season.
  • The Herons were 3-2 on Saturday during traditional match play.
  • William Smith played even better on Sunday, going 4-1 in Baker matches.

    The Herons squared off with AMCC preseason favorite Saint Vincent in their first match of the weekend and for the second time this season, William Smith defeated the Bearcats. Behind a 209 by junior Michaela Morgan and a 204 by first-year Colleen Jump, the Herons notched a 927-837 win over Saint Vincent.
  • William Smith also topped Pitt Greensburg and Penn State Behrend on Saturday.
  • Morgan led the Herons with a 194 average on Day 1, second out of 75 bowlers in the tournament. She earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
  • Senior Amber Pidlypchack (175.4) and Jump (173.4) also ranked in the top 20.
  • The Herons lost their Baker opener on Sunday to Mercyhurst, but bounced back to win their remaining four matches.
  • Their 883-859 win over Daemen was the only blemish on the host Wildcats' weekend.
 
ON THE HORIZON
  • William Smith will head back to the Buffalo area Nov. 17-19 for the first AMCC Round Robin at Classic Lanes in Kenmore, New York.
