Herons host Hawks in mid-week tilt

The William Smith College ice hockey team concludes its three-game homestand against Hilbert College in a non-conference contest tomorrow, Nov. 14. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the Herons and the Hawks.
 
William Smith enters the week with an overall record of 3-3-0. The Herons split a pair of NEHC games this past weekend. On Friday, the University of Southern Maine skated past the Herons 1-0.  Southern Maine netted their lone goal early in the first period and got 40 saves from goaltender Haley McKim in the shutout. William Smith goaltender Annie Hauser made 23 saves. The following afternoon the Herons defeated Salem State 6-0. Five of the six goals were scored in the third period with six different Herons finding the back of the net. Erin Murray stopped all 15 shots in the victory.
 
The Hawks are 1-5-0 after falling to Neumann twice this past weekend. Kaitlin Cowie had the lone goal on the weekend for Hilbert. The Hawks are in their second year as a varsity program.
 
Fans who can't make the trip to The Cooler can follow all the action with HWS All-Access and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
ABOUT THE HERONS
  • The Herons are led by juniors Kayla Ketchabaw and Annabel Ziskin, who have seven points each. Ketchabaw has a team-high four goals and Ziskin is one of three Herons with a team-high four assists.
  • Mackenzie O'Neil (1g, 4a) is right behind them with five points.
  • Goaltenders Erin Murray and Annie Hauser have split time in goal for the Herons. Murray has a GAA of 0.50 and a save percentage of .969. Hauser has a GAA of 1.51 and a .953 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE HAWKS
  • Hilbert is led by Kalin Cowie with three goals and four assists for seven points.
  • Abby MacNeil also has four assists and Anna Faulkner has three goals, tying for the team lead.
  • Tia Card has played the majority of time in goal for the Hawks. She has a GAA of 4.01, and a save percentage of .889. She made 79 saves in two games at Neumann this weekend.
