Statesmen move up to #2, host Brockport Tuesday

The Hobart College hockey team moved up one spot to No. 2 in this week's USCHO.com poll ahead of a midweek showdown with Brockport at The Cooler. Faceoff for the non-conference contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
The Statesmen enter this week with an overall record of 6-2-0. Hobart had a triumphant weekend, recording wins over Buffalo State and Fredonia. On Friday, the Statesmen shutout the Bengals 4-0. Seniors Matthieu Wuth and Artem Buzoverya led the team with a goal and an assist each. Sophomore Damon Beaver stopped all 15 shots he faced. His third straight shutout earned him a spot on the New England Hockey Conference's weekly honor roll. Saturday Hobart defeated Fredonia 3-1. Senior Kevin Lassman, first-year Chris Duclair, and sophomore Tanner Hartman each scored. Goaltender Graham Burke made 14 saves in the victory.
 
The Golden Eagles are 2-5-0 overall. This past weekend, Brockport was defeated by Oswego State 2-1 and Cortland 6-2. 
 
Fans unable to make it to The Cooler can follow all the action with HWS All-Access video and Live Stats. The games will be broadcast on WHWS-FM.

  • A rookie, Duclair continues to impress, leading the team with eight goals.
  • First year Bauer Morrissey leads the Statesmen with six assists. He is tied for second on the team with eight points.
  • Beaver has the edge in goalie minutes played. He has a GAA of 0.75 and a save percentage of .966. He is second in the nation in both categories.

  • Hobart enters the week first in the nation in penalty-killing percentage. The Statesmen have killed off 24 straight penalties to open the season.
  • Hobart is also first in the nation in scoring defense (0.88 gpg).
  • The Statesmen are second in power play percentage (0.423) and scoring margin (+ 3.75 gpg).
  • Duclair is first in the nation in power play goals (5) and third in goals per game (1.14).

  • Connor Galloway leads his team with five assists and six points.
  • Schuyler Flansburg has three goals and five points.
  • Goaltender Dylan Wiemer has played the majority of the time in net for Brockport. He has a GAA of 4.07 and a save percentage of .889.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Tuesday will be the 52nd meeting between the Statesmen and the Golden Eagles. 
  • Hobart leads the all-time series 33-16-2, including a record of 17-4-1 in Geneva.
  • The last meeting took place in 2017. Five different Statesmen scored as Hobart won 5-2 in Brockport, New York.
