Herons welcome Redhawks to Sunset Bowl Saturday

The William Smith College bowling team will host its first home match as a varsity program, welcoming Roberts Wesleyan University to Sunset Bowl Saturday, Dec. 2. The teams will play a traditional match beginning at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Baker match, which will start at approximately 9:45 a.m.
 
HIGH-FLYING HERONS
  • The Herons are in their second season as a varsity program and have made tremendous improvements over last season.
  • William Smith carries a 27-11 record into the match after going just 4-28 last season.
  • The Herons' .711 winning percentage is ninth in the nation.
  • The team is averaging 174.9 pins per game.
  • Among the team's highlights this season are a pair of wins over nationally-ranked Saint Vincent College.
  • Junior Michaela Morgan averages a team-high 18.91 pins per frame and sports a team-high 179 strikes.
  • First-year Colleen Jump is seventh in the nation in single pin spare percentage (95.2%), averaging 18.26 pins per frame and a team-leading 80.6 fill percentage.
 
REDHAWK REPORT
  • Roberts Wesleyan holds a 24-13 record and is 18th in the nation with a .649 winning percentage.
  • The Redhawks average 173.5 pins per game and also boast two wins over top 25 teams this season.
  • Senior Mykenzie Brunet leads the team in pins per frame (18.13), fill percentage (78.7) and strikes (149).
  • Senior Paige Barkley is second in all three of those categories, averaging 17.61 pins per frame with a 76.7 fill percentage and 90 strikes.
 
SERIES SNAPSHOT
  • This will be the fifth time this season, the Herons and Red Hawks have squared off with Roberts Wesleyan holding a 3-1 series lead.
  • William Smith took the inaugural match 886-828 in Baker format in October in Erie, Pennsylvania.
  • The Red Hawks won the next three, all in November at two different venues. Two of the wins were Baker format and one traditional.
