Herons top Redhawks in bowling program’s 1st home match

WATERLOO, N.Y.—The William Smith College bowling team posted a pair of victories over Roberts Wesleyan University in the program's first home event. The Herons defeated the Redhawks 873-816 in a traditional match and 907-866 in a Baker match.
 
In the traditional format, senior Amber Pidlypchak led the William Smith with a 193. First-year Tiana Wolkiewicz was close behind with a 189 and sophomore Caitlyn Anschutz added a 188. 
 
In the Baker format, the Herons started off with a strong lead after a 216-game, but Roberts Wesleyan rallied back with a 237 in the second game. William Smith carried a 17-pin lead into the final game keeping the fans at Sunset Bowl on the edge of their seats. 

Sophomore Breanna Holland subbed into the lineup in the final game and gave the Herons two clean frames. Pidlypchak, junior Michaela Morgan, and first-year Colleen Jump strung together three strikes in the eight, ninth, and 10th frames to seal the victory.
 
William Smith evened its all-time record against Roberts Wesleyan at 3-3. The Herons also extended their winning streak to nine straight matches.
 
William Smith will take a break from competition for final exams and the semester break. The Herons will return to action Feb. 2-4 when they compete in the AMCC Round Robin #2 in New Jersey City, New Jersey.
