GENEVA, N.Y.—Sophomore forward
Luke Aquaro scored twice as the second-ranked Hobart College hockey team defeated New England College 4-1 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this afternoon. With the victory, the Statesmen wrap up the regular season with a 23-2-0 overall record and a 16-2-0 mark in NEHC play.

Mavrick Goyer made 29 saves as he earned his ninth victory of the year. Andrew Kormos played all 60 minutes in goal for the Pilgrims (10-14-1, 7-10-1).
INSIDE THE GAME
- Hobart finished the game with a 51-30 advantage in shots on goal. It is just the second time this season that the Statesmen have allowed 30 shots on goal.
- New England College was 1-for-5 on the power play and Hobart was 0-for-5 with the extra attacker.
- There was a 30-minute delay to start the game when a pane of glass was broken in warmups.
SCORING SUMMARY
- The Statesmen opened the scoring at the 6:46 mark of the first period. Off of a faceoff, Aquaro ripped a shot from the top of the slot past Kormos for his 14th goal of the season. Shell and Alexander were awarded assists on the tally.
- Just past the 15-minute mark of the second period, Aquaro struck again. He broke up a crossing pass in the neutral zone, left a drop pass for Tanner Daniels and streaked toward the net. Daniels fed a pass through traffic to Aquaro who slipped his 15th goal of the year past the New England College goalie. It was his Hobart record sixth game-winning goal of the season.
- Graham Hassan broke up the shutout bid just past the five-minute mark of the third period. He deflected a Connor Lefkof point shot past Goyer for his second goal of the season. Anthony Cinato picked up the secondary assist on the goal.
- Twelve seconds later, Hobart regained a two-goal advantage on Alexander's 14th goal of the season. Standing in front of Kormos, he redirected a Kevin Lassman shot from the point into the back of the net.
- Tanner Hartman wrapped up the scoring late in the third period. He wristed home a shot from the low slot for his sixth goal of the season. Brenden Howell was awarded an assist on the tally.
UP NEXT
Hobart will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 18, when it welcomes Castleton for a NEHC quarterfinal contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
