TROY, N.Y.— The William Smith College basketball team fell to RPI 46-35 in a Liberty League matchup in ECAV Arena this afternoon. The Herons conclude their season at 7-18 overall and 5-13 in conference play, while the Engineers move to 13-12 overall with a 10-8 mark in conference play while clinching a spot in postseason play.

Lauren DeVaney led the Herons with 15 points and 15 rebounds for her team-leading 12th double-double of the season. Sophomore

HERON STAT LEADERS
FIRST HALF
- Junior Fiona Horan opened up the scoring for the Herons before the Engineers went on a 6-0 run to grab the early lead.
- William Smith responded with two three pointers from Patrick and DeVaney to grab the lead back.
- Heather Converse converted two shots from the free throw line to tie the game at 8 heading into the second quarter.
- RPI opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run before Scott nailed a deep three pointer to end the run.
- The Engineers found the hot hand from behind the arc, dropping three three pointers to extend their lead to nine heading into the half.
SECOND HALF
- RPI opened the second half on an 11-2 run to extend their lead to 18.
- DeVaney converted four late points in the third quarter in hopes of sparking a comeback heading into the final 10 minutes.
- The Herons and the Engineers traded three pointers to start the fourth quarter as Patrick and first-year Mckenzie Mandyck converted from behind the arc for the Herons.
- William Smith went on a late run, finding points from Devaney, Scott and senior Kerstin Kelly to cut RPI's lead to 11.
- The Engineers early lead proved to be enough as RPI clinched its 10th conference victory of the season and a spot in the Liberty League postseason.
