POTSDAM, N.Y.—Senior
Patrick Walker scored a team-high 21 points, but the Hobart College basketball team ended up on the short end of another overtime decision, falling 91-82 at Clarkson University this afternoon.
Walker was 8-of-14 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers. He also grabbed five rebounds, handed out three assists and blocked a shot. Senior
Jackson Meshanic logged his 14th double-double of the season, finishing with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. He also added a team-high five assists. Sophomore
Aidan Rodgers gave the Statesmen three players in double figures, producing 14 points, three assists and three steals.
The Golden Knights scored first in overtime, using a 12-2 run to build a lead they never yielded. Clarkson outscored Hobart 19-10 in the final period to notch their first win over the Statesmen since 2015.
Blake Gearhart scored 10 of his game-high 28 points in OT for the Knights. He matched Meshanic with five assists. Matteo Sinon contributed 18 points, Ryan Miles-Ferguson chipped in 15 points and Finn Cork had 11 points and a team-high nine boards.
FIRST HALF
- The first half was a back-and-forth affair, but the Statesmen carried a 38-33 lead into halftime thanks to a scoring flurry in the final minute.
- With a minute to go, Walker gave Hobart the lead, 35-33, on a traditional 3-point play.
- After Clarkson missed a 3-pointer, the Statesmen were able to hold for the final shot of the half and Walker drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the five-point lead.
- Walker was the leading scorer at the break with 14 pts.
SECOND HALF
- Clarkson started the second half on a 20-9 run to surge back into the lead, 53-47, in the first eight minutes.
- Hobart fought back to tie the game with six straight points, including four consecutive free throws by Pat Healy.
- Over the final 11 minutes of regulation, neither team led by more than two possessions.
- Aidan Rodgers put the Statesmen in front 72-71 with 1:49 left.
- Finn Cork tied the game after connecting on the front end of a two-shot opportunity at the line, but missed the second.
- Over the final 90 seconds, neither team managed to score again, necessitating OT.
KEY STATS
- One of the top rebounding teams in the country, Hobart again dominated on the glass. The Statesmen outrebounded the Golden Knights 45-31.
- CU shot 54.8% from the floor, including 5-of-6 in overtime. Hobart shot 43.8%, going 4-of-12 in OT.
- Clarkson committed half as many turnovers (7) as Hobart (14) resulting in the home team holding a 17-11 edge in points off turnovers.

- Hobart slips to 12-9 overall, 8-6 in the Liberty League.
- Clarson improved to 9-12, 6-8.
BACK HOME
- The Statesmen will return to Bristol Gym for the final time in the regular season, hosting Union and Bard next weekend. Hobart will tip off against the Dutchmen at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.
