CANTON, N.Y.—The 21st-ranked Hobart College squash team defeated Denison University 8-1 this morning in the third-place match at the 2023 Liberty League Men's Squash Championship. With the win, Hobart is now 10-9 overall this season.
The Statesmen went 2-1 this weekend, collecting victories over the Big Red and Bard. Hobart was edged by St. Lawrence 2-1.

- Hobart had three 3-0 sweeps in the match. The Statesmen won two of the three matches that went to five games and had a 3-1 victory.
MATCH MOMENTS
- Sophomore Roberto Vega improved to 3-0 on the weekend with his victory at No. 4. He beat Lucas Piller, 11-1, 11-2, 11-5. Vega is 10-9 on the season.
- At No. 6, senior James Mazzarelli swept Joao Victor Barbosa Gomes, 11-3, 11-6, 11-3. It was Mazzarelli's 10th win of the year.
- First-year Juan Carlos Lacerda Jones defeated Suryansh Agrawal, 11-2, 11-1, 11-3, at No. 7. It was his second victory of the year at No. 7.
- Sophomore Sayf Elhawary rallied to defeat Rayan Dar, 5-11, 11-4, 11-3, 12-10 at No. 5. With the win, Elhawary picked up his 10th win of the year.
- In the top spot, Omar Kiwan beat Juan Felipe Hernandez, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-5. It was Kiwan's team-leading 13th victory of the season.
- Sophomore Joseph Raskin Lantos edged Ibrahim Bekhiet, 7-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-3, 11-4, at No. 3. Raskin Lantos logged his 10th win of the year.
