GREENSBURG, Pa.—The William Smith College bowling team earned its first three wins as a varsity program during the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg at Hillview Lanes over the weekend. The Herons played 10 traditional scoring matches, earning victories over La Roche University, Penn State Behrend and Penn State Altoona, to finish eighth out of 11 teams.

William Smith earned its first win on Saturday against La Roche 657-649. Amber Pidlypchak led the Herons with a 178. William Smith finished Day 1 with a 1-4 record, tied for eighth place with the Redhawks and Hilbert.

On Sunday, the Herons earned their second win, defeating Penn State Behrend 799-774. Katherine Jacobia rolled the high game for the Herons, notching a season's best 196. Pidlypchak was right behind her with a 192.

William Smith's third win was also against the Lions, Penn State Altoona. Pidlypchak had the Herons high game with a 163, while Breanna Holland logged a 153. The 618-598 win over Altoona proved to be the tie-breaker with the Lions, who also finished 3-7, but landed in ninth place due to their loss to the Herons.

For the second tournament in a row, Pidlypchak placed in the top 10 in pinfall average. She averaged 179.7 in 10 games, ranking ninth out of 73 bowlers. Pidlypchak rolled her best game, posting a 205 against Medaille.

William Smith will return to action Feb. 17-19 when it competes in the AMCC Baker Round Robin in Buffalo, New York.
