SYRACUSE, N.Y.—The Syracuse University men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 6-2 lead at the end of 15 minutes and never looked back as it defeated Hobart College 18-7 to retain the Kraus-Simmons Trophy at the JMA Wireless Dome this afternoon. The Orange improve to 6-4 on the season, while the Statesmen slipped to 4-4.
Six different Statesmen scored a goal, including sophomore
John Jude Considine who had a pair of goals. Senior faceoff specialist
Adam Shea won 15-of-25 faceoffs and grabbed a game-high 10 ground balls. Senior

Elhanan Wilson, made 13 saves in goal the Hobart goal.
Syracuse was keyed by Joey Spalina who had six points on four goals and two assists. Michael Leo also had a hat trick for the Orange Jack Fine won 9-of-17 faceoffs and had four ground balls. Saam Olexo logged a team-high five ground balls. Will Mark made 14 saves in goal for Syracuse.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hobart took a 2-0 lead just over five minutes into the contest. One minute into the game, Considine beat Mark for his 11th goal of the year. Four minutes later, Bach logged his 10th goal of the year. Both tallies were unassisted.
- The Orange responded with seven unanswered goals, Including two from Leo and Spallina.
- Junior Anthony Dattellas and graduate student Bradley Simas scored 30 seconds apart to cut the defict to three goals. Dattellas' strike was his team-leading 20th goal of the season.
- Syracuse put the game out of reach, scoring the game's next four goals. Leo completed his first-half hat trick with 53 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Cole Kirst and John Cohen completed the four-goal run early in the third quarter, giving Syracuse an 11-4 lead.
- Alex Rosa stopped the run with a man-up goal with 7:45 left in the third quarter.
- The Orange scored three more times in the final 6:16 of the third. Spalina completed his hat trick with 3:41 left in the frame. Syracuse tacked on a fourth goal in the run with 12:44 remaining in regulation, when Jackson Birtwistle fired home a man-up goal.
- Senior John Herlihy broke up the run with his fifth goal of the season.
- Spalina John Cohen and Blake Erlbeck tacked on goals late in the game for the Orange.
- Considine rounded out the scoring with his 12th goal of the season.
