GENEVA, N.Y.— The William Smith College tennis team concluded the regular season with a 7-2 loss to No. 18 regionally ranked St. Lawrence this morning at the HWS Tennis Center. The Herons fall to 7-11 overall and 2-6 in conference play, while the Saints move to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in the Liberty League.
The Saints took an early lead over the Herons after winning two of three available doubles points. Sophomore
Isabelle Goings-Perrot and first-year
Haley Levine grabbed the doubles point for the Herons, defeating Catherine Gamble and Molly Jespersen, 8-6, in the No. 1 spot.
St. Lawrence extended its lead in singles play, winning five of six singles matches in straight sets. Goings-Perrot shined for William Smith in the No. 1 position, defeating Catherine Gamble, 6-0, 6-1, for her second win of the day.
Senior
Audrey Camacho put up a good fight in the No. 3 spot but ultimately fell, 7-5, 6-0, to Caitlyn Avery. Camacho concludes her senior season at 7-7 in the No. 3 singles position.
Levine fell to Jespersen in a tight match at the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-3. She concludes the season at 6-5 in the No. 2 spot.
First-year
Marin Montagne also had a strong showing for the Herons in the No. 5 spot. She fell 7-5, 6-1, to Emily Harris.
