ITHACA, N.Y.— The No. 13 regionally ranked Hobart College tennis team fell to No. 33 nationally ranked RPI, 5-3, this afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, New York. The Statesmen fall to 16-5, while the Engineers move to 13-6 and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Mens Tennis Tournament.

RPI took an early lead in doubles action, earning all three available doubles points. No. 12 regionally ranked doubles duo Jett Wright and Sean Pesin put up a good fight against No. 15 regionally ranked doubles duo, Aiden Drover Mattinen and Andy Zhu, but were clipped, 8-6, at the No. 1 spot.

In singles action, Hobart fought back and won three out of the five completed singles matches. Sophomore Hyat Oyer defeated Bryce Burnham in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 4 spot. Oyer is now 16-4 in dual match singles play.
