#3 William Smith hosts Rochester Saturday

The third-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team continues its four-game homestand Saturday, April 8, when it welcomes the Yellowjackets of the University of Rochester to Boswell Field for a Liberty League contest. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
The Herons, who are 10-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play, are coming off a 19-9 win over Rochester Institute of Technology. First-year Natalie Daniels led the Herons with 6 goals. William Smith is 10-0 for the first time since 1995.
 
The Yellowjackets are 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the Liberty League. This past weekend, Rochester defeated the Red Dragons of SUNY Oneonta 21-14.
 
Fans who cannot make the trip to Geneva can follow the action with HWS All-Access and Live Stats. The game will also be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
ABOUT THE HERONS
  • William Smith is led by senior Maddie Montgomery. She has 34 goals for 43 points.
  • The playmaker, junior Allie McGinty leads the team with 14 assists.
  • Sophomore goalie Maura Smeader plays the majority of the time in net for the Herons. She has a GAA of 7.14 and a save percentage of .518. Smeader is 10th in the nation in GAA and 16th in save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE YELLOWJACKETS
  • Rochester is led by Lucy Haggerty's 23 assists and 42 points.
  • Yellowjacket scoring is led by Alyssa Gorny, she has 27 goals and is second with 37 points.
  • Time in net is split by Ava Saffren and Emily Geiss. Saffren has a GAA of 10.63 and a save percentage of .427. Geiss has an 11.72 GAA and a .474 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday will be the 48th meeting between the Herons and the Yellowjackets.
  • The Herons lead the all-time series 44-3, including a 23-1 record in Geneva.
  • Last season, the herons defeated the Yellowjackets 19-7. Montgomery had 5 goals. Molly Davis recorded seven points on three goals and four assists.
