Statesmen Hosts Golden Flyers Wednesday

The Hobart College soccer team will be back in action tomorrow, Sept. 13, when it hosts Nazareth University in a non-conference match up on Cozzens Field. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
 
The Statesmen are 1-3-0 overall. Hobart is looking to snap a three-game skid after opening the season with a 6-0 win over Keuka. On Saturday, the Statesmen were edged by newly minted No. 1 Mary Washington University 2-1, before closing out the Blue Jay Invitational with a 2-0 loss to Johns Hopkins. Nazareth University holds a 4-0-0 record after defeating Hilbert, 3-1 on Saturday. 
 
Fans who can't make it to Geneva can follow all the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7).
 
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Sophomore Quinn Philips leads the team with four points on one goal and two assists.
  • Hobart has eight players tied with one goal each.
  • Graduate student Marcelo Suarez has a team-high three assists on the year.
  • Senior Guillermo Castañeda Chang and graduate student Ry Cohen have split the time in goal. Castañeda Chang is 1-1-0 with a 1.80 GAA and a .769 save percentage, while Cohen is 0-2-0 with a 1.72 GAA and a .778 save percentage. 
 
ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLYERS
  • Jake Pawlika leads the team with nine points on four goals and one assist.
  • He is one of three Golden Flyers with one assist.
  • Patrick Larkin has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He's 4-0-0 with a 1.25 GAA and a .750 save percentage. 
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Wednesday's game will be the 35th matchup between the Statesmen and the Golden Flyers. Hobart is 20-11-3 all-time against Nazareth, including a 9-6-1 mark in Geneva.
  • The Statesmen have won the last 10 meetings between the teams.
  • This will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2015 when Hobart prevailed 4-0.
