#7 Yellowjackets down Statesmen

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart College was defeated by seventh-ranked University of Rochester 4-1 in a non-conference contest at Fauver Stadium this evening.
 
Chris Friedlander scored the goal for the Statesmen (1-4-1). Ry Cohen played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves.
 
Othman Belhseine had a game-high four points on a goal and two assists for the Yellowjackets (4-0-1). Santino Lupica-Tondo made a pair of saves in 90 minutes in goal for Rochester.
 
 
SCORING SUMMARY
  • The Yellowjackets opened the scoring in the 20th minute on Santi Pnce Ocampo's third goal of the season. He one-timed a pass from Belhseine into the upper right corner of the cage.
  • Less than 10 minutes later, Elijose Araujo gave Rochester a 2-0 lead on his third goal of the season. He headed home a throw in from just outside the six-yard box. Belhseine and Koi Bassuk were awarded assists on the tally.
  • Hobart ended Lupica Tondo's shutout bid just over a minute into the second half. Friedlander headed home a Nolan Fierro throw in for his first goal as a Statesman.
  • Belhseine gave Rochester a 3-1 lead in the 54th minute. He ripped a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that curled around Cohen's outstretched hands. Belhseine's second goal of the season was assisted by Araujo.
  • Jeremiah Anandarajah rounded out the scoring in the 74th minute. He headed home an Ashton Prescott free kick for his first goal of the season.
 
NEAR MISSES
  • Hobart applied pressure on the Yellowjackets right from the opening whistle. Quinn Phillips had a chance 38 seconds into the contest, but his shot just missed the left goalpost
  • In the fifth minute fierro fired a shot just over the crossbar.
  • Early in the second half, Fierro had another golden scoring chance smothered by a diving Lupica-Tondo.
  • In the 75th minute Marcelo Suarez's scoring chance was turned aside by Lupica-Tondo.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Hobart finished the game with a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
  • The Statesmen outshot Rochester 13-9.
 
UP NEXT
Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 23, when it travels to Saratoga Springs, New York, to take on Skidmore. The Liberty League opener for both teams is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
