William Smith begins homestand against Skidmore

9/21/2023 3:18:00 PM

The top-ranked William Smith College soccer team will begin a three-game homestand on Saturday, Sept. 23, when it welcomes Skidmore College to Cozzens Field. The Herons and Thoroughbreds are scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m.

Prior to Saturday's game, the team will dedicate the newly renovated Carver-DeLaney Suite. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on the steps of Bristol Gym.

The ceremony will honor Chip Carver '81 and his wife Anne DeLaney for their generous support of the project. Carver serves on the HWS Board of Trustees and, along with DeLaney, is an ardent supporter of HWS students, the Colleges and the HWS athletic programs. Carver has also been working alongside Head Coach Aliceann Wilber as an assistant coach since 2017.

William Smith (4-0-2, 0-0-1) opened Liberty League play on Wednesday with a 1-1 tie against Rochester Institute of Technology. Julia DiMenna scored for the Herons. Kirsten Nelson played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save.
