ITHACA, N.Y.—The Hobart College soccer team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as it defeated Ithaca College 2-0 in a Liberty League contest at Carp Wood Field this afternoon. With the victory, the Statesmen are now 3-4-1 overall on the season with a 2-0-0 mark in conference play.
Brian Sheehan and
La Zai Outerbridge scored in the victory.
Guillermo Castañeda Chang played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves as he earned the shutout.
Johannes Berghahn started in goal for the Bombers (3-2-1, 1-1-0) and made one save in just over 34 minutes of work. Ian Whitfield played the final 55 minutes and made one stop.

- Hobart had a 12-8 advantage in shots in the game.
- The Statesmen held a slight 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
SCORING SUMMARY
- Sheehan opened the scoring in the sixth minute. He headed a Nolan Fierro corner kick into the upper right corner of the cage. It was Sheehan's first goal of the season.
- Outerbridge notched his second goal of the season in the 31st minute. Off a free kick, he collected a pass in the box from Quinn Phillips and slipped a shot into the middle of the cage.
SCORING CHANCES
- Hobart continued to press following their first goal. Lucas Montero and Connor Koschineg had shots blocked by Ithaca defenders in the 10th and 11th minutes, respectively.
- In the 25th minute, Max Daniels' shot was turned aside by a diving Berghahn.
- The Bombers had a chance in the 74th minute to break the shutout, but Reefe Harrison's shot was turned aside by Castaneda Chang.
- Castaneda Chang made a second stop on Gustav Brauerle in the 86th minute.

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 30, when it heads to Potsdam, New York, to take on Clarkson University. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
