CANTON, N.Y.—The 17th-ranked Hobart College squash team was edged by 23rd-ranked St. Lawrence University 5-4 at the Robbie Squash Center. It was the first match of a four-game road trip for the Statesmen.
FOR THE RECORD
- Hobart is now 3-6 on the season. All nine of the Statesmen's matches have come against teams ranked in the top 25.
- The Saints have won two straight matches and are 6-5 on the season.
MATCH SUMMARY
- St. Lawrence earned four of their five points with 3-0 sweeps. Hobart had two sweeps in the match.
- First-year Dhirren Rajarathinam extended his winning streak to four matches. He beat Alexander Scott, 11-5, 6-11, 11-5, 11-3, at No. 2 spot. With the win, Rajarathinam is 8-1 overall on the season with a 2-0 mark in the second spot.
- In the No. 3 spot, senior Omar Kiwan swept Harrison Callaway, 11-4, 11-7, 11-4. With three straight victories, Kiwan is now 5-4 this season. It was his 30th career victory.
- Senior Sebi De La Vega swept Harry Robson, 12-10, 11-8, 11-5. De La Vega is 4-2 overall this season.
- Javier De La Vega had the closest match of the day. He rallied for a 5-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-1, 13-11 victory over Vladimir Iglesias.
- Athrva Yadav clinched the overall victory for St. Lawrence at No. 8.

Hobart will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 19, when it heads to Clinton, N.Y., to take on Wesleyan University. The match which will be held at Hamilton College is scheduled for 3 p.m.
