Kiwan, Rajarathinam lead Hobart against Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—Hobart College senior Omar Kiwan and first-year Dhirren Rajarathinam each won their sixth-straight match this afternoon as the Statesmen concluded their four-game road trip against Middlebury College. The 20th-ranked Panthers defeated the 17th-ranked Statesmen 7-2 inside the Bostwick Family Squash Center.

  • Middlebury improves to 9-2.
  • Hobart is now 5-7.
 
MATCH SUMMARY
  • Rajarathinam cruised to a 3-0 sweep, beating Will Lichstein, 11-6, 11-3, 11-7. It was his team-leading 10th win of the season. Rajarathinam is 10-1, including a 4-0 record in the No. 2 spot.
  • In the No. 3 spot, Kiwan defeated Caleb Boateng, 11-5, 9-11, 11-2, 11-4. Kiwan is 8-4 on the season with a 4-0 mark in the No. 3 spot.
  • Middlebury had three 3-0 sweeps, three 3-1 victories and won one match that went the full five games.
  • Senior Hussein Labib was edged by Nathan Feinstein in the No. 1 spot. In the closest match of the day, Feinstein won 7-11, 11-4, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6.
  • Gabe Thin clinched the overall victory for the Panthers in the No. 7 spot.
 
UP NEXT
Hobart will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 27, when it takes Franklin and Marshall College. The match at the Smith Squash Center is scheduled to begin at noon.
