The William Smith volleyball team is set to play two home conference matches this weekend in Bristol Gymnasium. The Herons will welcome Vassar on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., and Bard on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m.

ABOUT THE HERONS:
- William Smith enters the weekend on a nine-match win streak and a 12-2 overall record, including a 2-0 mark in Liberty League play. The Herons are receiving 32 votes in this weeks American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll and are coming off a 3-1 win over SUNY Cortland, who was also receiving votes in the poll.
- Junior outside hitter Malya Sayre was named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll after her 22-kill (.211) and 16-dig performance against the Red Dragons. Her double-double against Cortland was her eighth of the season.
- Sayre leads the conference in kills per set (3.98) and points per set (4.66). She ranks 27th in the nation in both categories. Classmate Hope Von Dohlen ranks sixth in the Liberty League in kills per set (2.77) and ninth in points per set (3.13). Additionally, junior middle blocker Jaylynn McCarthy ranks third in the conference in hitting percentage (.305).
- First-year setter Delainy Williams leads the Liberty League in assists per set (10.69) and ranks seventh in the country. She has recorded five double-doubles in her rookie season.
- First-year libero Kali Vanderhoof leads the team in digs per set (4.17) and ranks fourth in the Liberty League. Sayre chips in 3.62 digs per set, which ranks seventh in the conference.
- First-year middle blocker Arielle Newsome has recorded a team-leading 50 blocks (0.98/set), ranking fourth in the conference. Von Dohlen has chipped in 36 blocks this season (0.71/set), which ranks 10th in the conference.
- As a team, the Herons rank among the nation's best in several categories. William Smith ranks 20th nationally in assists per set (12.35) and 33rd in kills per set (13.13).
ABOUT THE BREWERS:
- Vassar enters the weekend at 2-10 overall and 0-1 in the Liberty League after a 3-0 loss to Clarkson last weekend.
- Maura McAusland leads the Brewers offensively, averaging 3.24 kills per set. She is followed by Holland Kaplan at 2.73 kills per set.
- Molly Arden leads the team with 176 assists this season, averaging 4.29 per set.
- Defensively, the Brewers are led by T Petro who averages 2.82 digs per set.
- Julia Hale leads the team with 35 blocks this season. She ranks fourth in the conference with 0.97 blocks per set.
ABOUT THE RAPTORS:
- Bard enters the weekend with a 4-13 record after defeating SUNY Delhi 3-0 on Wednesday. The Raptors will head to RIT for a conference matchup with the Tigers on Friday before coming to Geneva Saturday.
- Coral Cook leads the Raptors with 160 kills this season, averaging 2.67 per set. She is followed by Annika Flittie who averages 2.66 kills per set.
- Becca Wintjen has recorded a team-leading 400 assists, averaging 6.67 assists per set.
- Defensively, Ella Small leads the Raptors with 4.13 digs per set, while Xenia Vassou leads at net with 0.67 blocks per set.
WHAT'S BREWING:
- Friday will be the third meeting between William Smith and Vassar. The series is split 1-1 with both sides winning on their home court.
- Last time they met, the Brewers defeated the Herons 3-1 in Poughkeepsie. Sayre led William Smith with 22 kills and six digs, while McCarthy chipped in 10 kills and 10 digs in the loss.
BATTLE OF THE BIRDS:
- Saturday will be the third meeting between William Smith and Bard. The Herons have won both previous meetings with the Raptors.
- Last time they met, William Smith defeated Bard 3-0 in Annandale-on-Hudson. Sayre led the Herons with 13 kills and 10 digs, while McCarthy and Von Dohlen chipped in six kills each in the sweep.
